A New Lifeline Called Smartphone

A Poem About Smartphones Taking a Front Seat in Our Lives

It was a necessity
To call a friend,
It was important
To speak to family,
It was good
To connect with colleagues.
Yet, here we are
With our noses
Deep in our phones
In a never-ending drama
And stuck in our own world.
Tap, swipe, and tap,
Welcome to this new world!
This is just about me
And a million others,
Virtual and total strangers.
With our noses
Deep in our phones
Fighting with them
Waiting for their approval
Is that where we are headed?
Have we really
Come down to this?
It was a necessity
Yet, here we are
Using it as a lifeline and
To argue without need.
