Taking it slow

Every minute was a chore before
Days don’t mesh into weeks anymore,
Life took a turn for the worse, I think
Everything changed within a blink,
It slowed down and made me face
The reality that threw me off base
I had to follow and stop, too,
Had to discard it all and start anew.
Looking out through the window, I see
Flowers, birds, and a little bumble bee.
There is life outside a computer screen
Color and beauty added to the scene
Butterflies flew around flowers in the garden
I watched them every now and then,
Maybe ‘slow’ is good, I realize,
It gave me time to enjoy and analyze.
Instead of taking the expressway,
I took a seat back and had a great day.
